The Bubny development will focus on revitalization and reuse of existing plots somewhat neglected over the years. Cleaning up, reinvesting in and redeveloping of this property will be geared toward improving the urban and social infrastructure as well as improving and protecting the environment. Moreover, Bubny redevelopment will put non-productive real estate assets to productive use, promoting the economic development of Prague 7 and the Czech capital as a whole.
The proposed development is an urban mix consisting of residential and commercial units as well as transportation, entertainment and recreational venues.
On a local level, the redevelopment will reconnect two divided halves of Prague’s Holesovice neighborhood. These two residential areas have been separated for decades by the train sidings and one of the city’s most congested streets, Argentinska. The reintegration of the neighborhood will make it expedient to cross Bubny on foot as well as by road and tram connections.
It will result in a truly dynamic urban area. The contrast with the suburban-style residential developments being built on Prague’s outskirts couldn’t be starker.
The public buildings giving Prague a higher international profile will also be vital in giving the new neighborhood a function and identity in the city itself. Currently lacking a modern theatre facility the performing arts centre at Bubny will be an alternate focal point for a city whose focus has long been confined to its historic center.
In doing so, ORCO will utilize has an international team of renowned architects and urban planning experts in order to propel the urban vision in the right direction.
